Moving

February 20, 2009

The moving vans are arriving next week. We are moving to Seattle. I’m looking forward to finding a place in the community for myself and for my family. I can’t wait to see what sorts of photographic adventures await me there. I have enjoyed meeting everyone here in San Diego and have loved watching the little ones grow over time. Thank you all for inviting me into your lives.

Two seasons

February 20, 2009

The shoot of this beautiful family happened on the tail end of a big storm. The sun was moving fast between clouds, alternating between warm springtime light and cool winter light. Fun to get so many different looks in one shoot.

I had such fun following one year old Daniel around. He was curious about everything on the ground and in the sky. He even sat down against this wall all by himself and proceeded to throw out some of the cutest looks ever:

What’s that melting? Oh yeah, it’s my heart. Into a puddle.

Homage to our shoot last year when Daniel was just three months old. What a difference a year makes.

Little ball of dough

November 18, 2008

Little two week old Jacob was a gem to meet and work with. I could have spent all day with precious Jacob and his doting parents, Bob and Sharon. Jacob would relax into one of his parents’ arms and be in this state of total contentment. That parent baby bond melts my heart every time.

This is a real working bowl that French bakers used to form and kneed dough in. Jacob looks like a little ball of just formed dough in it.

Little Cub

November 18, 2008

I am three shoots behind on my blogging (gasp), so without further ado…let me introduce the most adorable Alex on his one year old birthday – which was also election day (doubly exciting day!).

Nostalgic for yesterday

October 30, 2008

I am nostalgic for yesterday.  Each day that passes, the little ones change into someone they weren’t the day before.  As I was editing this session, I found myself gravitating toward the quiet images.  Moments cherished, yet so fleeting, in our lives as parents.

I’m so happy to have been able to spend some time with this wonderful family again this year.  Mike and Amber have added a lovely 3 month old daughter, Audrey (hoorah!), to their family.  Jadyn is a proud 3 year old big sister who is generous with her hugs and kisses for Audrey.

Amber took some time during our session to feed Audrey.  When I went around the corner, this is what I saw and just had to make a photo of it.   Thanks, Amber, for letting me share this one.  I think it’s a wonderful reminder of how special a time it is (or was) when our children are (or were) babies.

I still like the “in between” shots best.  Love the way parents close in around their little ones.

A father and daughter bond is timeless.

The girls.

Time for Audrey’s close up.  She has the most beautiful head of hair.  The ends of her hair curl up all around her face.  So cute!

Wonder how this adorable 3 month old is suspended in mid air?

She was a Christmas tree topper on Mike’s head.

Very last shot of the day and my favorite of Jadyn.

Sit still?  What fun would that be?

What a weekend!

October 28, 2008

This family drove in from Arizona to visit their family over the weekend. From the sounds of it, they were packing in two minutes worth of activity into each minute of their visit. Leah’s one year birthday party was only one of many birthdays celebrated, Barry and Yolanda’s anniversary was the day of our shoot, and the kids had two sets of grandparents to visit.  If that wasn’t enough, they squeezed in a photo shoot to boot. I learned all this after we were done with our shoot and I was doubly impressed that they had so much energy.  If they were tired, they never showed it!

Three year old Garrett…

Love the rolled up sleeves.

Leah is the spitting image of Barry-especially when she smiles.
